The wool tunic is decorated with wings on the collar and bars on the epaulettes signifying his rank as a 1st Lieutenant. Each sleeve has a military aviator patch, and on his left sleeve is a Fleur de Lys patch indicating his role as a liaison officer with the French. The three chevrons on his left sleeve represent his three years of military service. Above the left pocket are three service ribbons.
