From the first art theft of The Last Judgement in 1473, to the works by Degas, Manet, Rembrandt and Vermeer stolen in 1990 from Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum, and perhaps most famously, the theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911 – art heists have long captivated the public’s attention.
